Now that you have found my website, you are one step closer to beginning your counselling journey. You have taken a big step towards asking for support with the challenges you are experiencing, and my offer is to help you through this time in your life.
Often, professional counselling is the only confidential space people have in their lives to talk about their personal situation and to be listened to without judgement. At first this can feel unusual, but together we can work in a transparent, respectful way to explore whatever it is that’s troubling you.
My name is Lucy, I’m an integrative counselling therapist, which means I am trained in 5 of the main counselling modalities including Attachment, Psychodynamic, Systemic, Person Centered and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
My ‘integrative’ training allows me to tailor my approach to each individual I work with – we are all unique and how I work with you will be unique to you.
I work on a one-to-one basis with adults (18+) offering online or face to face sessions for both short term (6 sessions) or longer term (6+ sessions).
About
Prior to training as a Counsellor, I worked in varying roles throughout my life, across all organisational sectors including private, public, charitable, and Higher Education, giving me a broad perspective of the workplace and people in general.
I have experienced life’s ups and downs and have at various times sought counselling to work through difficult issues, so I understand how important it is to provide a safe, supportive, confidential, non-judgemental space to explore your deepest fears and anxieties.
I am qualified to Level 7 Post-Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, and am currently completing my Masters.
Prior to my Post-Graduate Diploma I completed a Level 4 Certificate in Counselling, and from university (the first time round) I completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Behavioural Sciences.
I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). This means I adhere to an Ethical Framework and code of practice. It also requires me to receive ‘supervision’ every month to ensure I am practicing safely and ethically.

How it works
Step 1
Don’t worry if you have not seen a Counsellor before. My role is to explore with you what has brought you to seek therapy. In the initial free 30-minute consultation we’ll briefly discuss what you would like to explore and any goals or aims you may have (you may not know just yet and that’s fine too).
Step 2
Following the initial consultation, you’ll have chance to reflect on whether you would like to continue to work with me.
Step 3
If you decide to continue, usually we begin with 6 sessions. Sessions are 50 minutes, once per week for the 6 weeks – but this is not set in stone and can be less or significantly more depending on you and your unique situation. We will work to your pace and you decide what we do or don’t discuss.
Price & Availability
Sessions are £60 each and are payable 24 hours in advance of the session.
A pre-paid block of 6 sessions is £300 (equivalent of £50 per session).
Current Availability
I currently offer online and in-person counselling sessions at the following times:
Monday: Morning, Afternoon and Evening
Tuesday: Afternoon and Evening
Thursday: Afternoon and Evening
Sessions are delivered online via Google Meet or WhatsApp Video, providing a secure and convenient way to access support wherever you feel most comfortable.
If these times do not suit your circumstances, please feel free to contact me, as additional appointments may occasionally be available by arrangement.
Types of Therapy
Attachment-Based Therapy
Attachment-based therapy explores how our early relationships and life experiences can influence the way we relate to ourselves and others. Difficulties with trust, self-esteem, intimacy, or emotional regulation can sometimes be linked to past attachment experiences. By developing a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship, this approach can help you better understand patterns in your relationships, build emotional resilience, and develop healthier ways of connecting with others.
Psychodynamic Therapy
Psychodynamic therapy focuses on understanding how past experiences, unconscious thoughts, and long-standing patterns may influence your current feelings and behaviours. Together, we explore recurring themes, relationships, and emotional responses that may be affecting your wellbeing. By gaining greater insight into these patterns, you can develop a deeper understanding of yourself, make more informed choices, and create meaningful and lasting change in your life.
Systemic Therapy
Systemic therapy looks at the wider context of your life, including relationships, family dynamics, social influences, and life experiences. Rather than viewing difficulties in isolation, it considers how different aspects of your environment may contribute to challenges or strengths. This approach can help you understand relationship patterns, improve communication, and develop new perspectives that support positive change and healthier connections with the people around you.
Person-Centred Therapy
Person-centred therapy is based on the belief that everyone has the capacity for growth, self-understanding, and positive change. The focus is on providing a safe, non-judgemental, and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. Through a genuine therapeutic relationship, you are encouraged to develop greater self-awareness, confidence, and trust in your own ability to make decisions and move forward in life.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT is a practical and goal-focused approach that explores the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Sometimes unhelpful thinking patterns can contribute to emotional distress or difficulties in daily life. CBT helps you identify these patterns and develop more balanced ways of thinking and responding. By learning new strategies and skills, you can improve emotional wellbeing, build resilience, and make positive changes in everyday situations.
My Integrative Approach
I work integratively, drawing on a range of evidence-based counselling approaches to meet your individual needs. This allows therapy to be tailored to your unique experiences, circumstances, and goals, rather than relying on a single method of working.
I have a background working with a range of adult clients including those experiencing relationship difficulties both personal and work related, those caring for loved ones, past trauma, bereavement & loss, perimenopause and menopause, low mood and anxiety, feelings of being ‘stuck’, and the complexities and ambiguities of moving through phases of life.
